BLOOD IN THE WATER – and it’s Israel’s!

Uri Avnery, you are speaking this, on this day of shame, May 31, 2010, when a flotilla of human rights activists trying to break the blockade of Gaza and to import much needed supplies to its people after three years of siege and horrendous attacks, has been attacked by Israeli helicopters, with 19 dead counted so far, and dozens of injured: This is a day of disgrace to the State of Israel, a day of anxiety in which we discover that our future was entrusted to a bunch of trigger-happy people without any responsibility. This day is a day of disgrace and madness and stupidity without limit, the day the Israeli government took care to blacken the name of the country in the world, adding convincing evidence of aggressiveness and brutality to Israel’s already bad international image, discouraging and distancing the few remaining friends. (Press release of Uri Avnery, 05/31/2010) We are with you, Uri, and we feel the shame of all Israeli who must look reality in the face and recognize: we are part of a criminal country, a country of liers and cheats, and of ruthless cowards, which has now put itself definitively outside all rule of international law and outside the community of nations. THIS ISRAEL IS SHOT DEAD IN THE WATER. It has committed suicide.  Don’t cry after it! The time has come for the American State of Canaan, uniting all Israelis, all Palestinians and all Palestinian refugees in one State of equals under the Constitution of the United States, as the 51st State of the Union of the United States of America. Face up to it: besides more shame and war and destruction, there is no other way to go!
